In view of the scorching heat, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has taken a big decision. There will be no work of the employees from 12 noon to 3 am. Meanwhile, their salary will not be cut. In view of the temperature being close to 50 degrees Celsius in many parts of the national capital, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena issued this order for construction sector workers on Wednesday.
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has implemented a three-hour leave for workers from May 20 and this arrangement will continue at all places till the temperature drops below 40 degrees Celsius. Officials said that on May 20, the Lieutenant Governor had directed the DDA to make adequate arrangements of water and coconut water for the workers at the construction sites so that the workers do not face dehydration.
He said the Lt Governor in his directions directed that the Chief Secretary should hold an immediate meeting of the officers of PWD, DJB, I&FC, MCD, NDMC., Electricity Department, DUSIB and issue necessary directions for the safety of the employees and supervisory staff.
According to officials, apart from this, the Lieutenant Governor also instructed to keep water pots at the bus stand so that passengers do not face the problem of drinking water. He also instructed to make arrangements for tankers etc. for sprinkling on the roads.
