Jammu, May 28 (HS). Senior Congress leader Gurmeet Singh paid tribute to former first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 60th death anniversary. Senior Congress leader Gurmeet Singh, who is presiding over Jammu East constituency, President of Vyapar Mandal and General Secretary of JKPCC, organized a program in Ward No. 3. Party Ward President Hardvinder Singh was also present in this program organized at Congress Party Office Rajinder Bazar, Jammu.
Gurmeet said Jawaharlal Nehru was an Indian anti-colonial nationalist, secular humanist, social democrat, statesman and writer who was a central figure in mid-20th century India. He was a prominent leader of the Indian nationalist movement in the 1930s and 1940s. Widely recognised as one of the greatest figures of modern India, Nehru is also revered as the “Architect of Modern India” for his contributions to nation-building, securing democracy and preventing ethnic civil war. His birthday is celebrated as Children's Day in India.
