Amount of school development grant allocated for financial year 2024-25

Ranchi, May 28 (HS). More than 35 thousand (35,073) schools of the state have been allocated the amount of school development grant for the financial year 2024-25. In this regard, Aditya Ranjan, State Project Director of Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), has issued information to the District Education Officers and concerned officials of all the districts.

The benefit of this amount of Rs 12455.90 lakh is to be given to primary and secondary schools (all government) of all 24 districts. Out of this amount, Rs 10722.95 has been fixed for primary schools (32626) while Rs 1732.95 has been fixed for 2447 secondary schools. Information regarding the approval of the district-wise allocated amount can also be obtained through the management portal.

Some important guidelines have also been issued by JEPC regarding the school development grant amount. It has been said that at least 10 percent of the grant amount will be spent on cleanliness in schools. Under this, repair, maintenance, cleaning and arrangement of drinking water will be done for toilets. If needed, more than 10 percent amount can also be spent. Small repairs of school building, painting work, maintenance and maintenance of black board, bench-desk, table, chair, various types of registers, chalkboard and other materials can also be purchased.

Maintenance of the lab and purchase of necessary materials for it, purchase of newspapers for the library, maintenance of sports equipment are also included in these works. Details of the Bal Sansad of the school, name and photo of the members of the school management committee, display of details of the school house on the wall, notice board, organizing health camps and other necessary works can also be done from this amount.

JEPC has said that proposals can be sent to the block headquarters in coordination with the local Panchayat representative (Mukhiya etc.) for the facilities of hand wash facility, additional toilets, leveling of playground, drinking water and other works in schools. JEPC has also raised the point that the state level team had recently visited schools in various districts. During this, it was observed that in the previous year, the amount of school development grant was not properly utilized in useful works.

Many schools lagged behind in using 100% of the funds. Some schools also complained about not receiving the funds. This shows that the headmasters of many schools are not aware of the current system of using the funds. This information should be sent to all the headmasters this time. Special audit will be conducted of those schools which have not used the funds received earlier properly. Action will also be taken.
