The people of the tribal community, who were protesting against the demolition of the platform of the Sarna Sthal near the State Hangar of the city, cleared the blockade on the Airport Road after three hours on Tuesday after being persuaded and assured. After much persuasion, long talks and assurances by Central Sarna Committee President Ajay Tirkey and Congress leader Ajay Nath Shahdev, the anger of the people subsided.
The platform of the Sarna Sthal adjacent to the State Hangar at Birsa Munda Airport was demolished on the orders of Ranchi Sadar SDO. As soon as the local villagers got the information about this, a huge crowd of people gathered at that place. The angry people sat on the road and started shouting slogans. Due to this, the passengers going to the airport had to face a lot of problems. There was a long line of vehicles on the road. Many passengers missed their flights. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, police force and magistrate were called but the angry people did not listen.
Ranchi CO said that the platform at the Sarna Sthal adjacent to the State Hangar at Birsa Munda Airport has been demolished on the orders of Ranchi SDO. The government has acquired this land for the airport. Action is being taken on it after the measurement. On this, the tribals said that the Sarna land is theirs. They created a ruckus over this and blocked the road.
On the occasion, the President of the Central Sarna Committee, Ajay Tirkey, said that the platform located at the Devthan Pahada Jatra site Khokhma Toli Airport was demolished. In protest against this, the people of the tribal community blocked the road. He said that how can bulldozers be run without notice. Information should be given first. The airport has been built on the land given by the tribals. He talked to the SDO, CO and other officials. He also appealed to beautify the Sarna site and make it grand. After this, the administration assured that the Sarna site will be beautified after the elections. After this, the road blockade was ended by convincing all the people.
State President of Central Sarna Sangharsh Samiti, Shiva Kachhap said that the demolition of Airport Sarna Sthal by the administration is highly condemnable. There should be no interference with the faith of any religion or caste. Tampering with the Sarna Sthal will not be tolerated. If the Sarna Sthal is not rebuilt in time, there will be a strong agitation.
