The BCCI wants to make Gautam Gambhir the head coach of the Indian cricket team. After the refusal of some foreign coaches, the board is left with no option. Reports claim that Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gambhir was offered a blank check by franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan to stay with the franchise for the next 10 years. Gambhir was with Lucknow Super Giants at the time of this offer. Gambhir is also interested in the post of India's head coach but wants his 100 percent guarantee. If the board sees Gambhir only as a candidate, then he is not ready to apply. On the other hand, the Kolkata franchise is ready to sign Gambhir on a long-term contract and that is why Shah Rukh has offered a blank check. After foreign cricketers like Ricky Ponting, Justin Langer and Stephen Fleming refused to become India's head coach, the board now has many options to find Rahul Dravid's successor.
