Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, while talking to reporters on Monday, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is misleading the people on issues like inflation, Manipur violence, China's occupation of 26 points of India and instead of giving answers, he is talking about the issues of the past.
Shashi Tharoor said that the Prime Minister talks about Muslims, mullahs, mujra and mangalsutra but is silent on inflation and Manipur issue. He said that unemployment and inflation have increased in the country. In the last ten years, the income of 80 percent of the people has decreased and a major part of the income of 20 percent of the people has been lost. He said that the government should work for the welfare of the people, not for building temples.
On the EVM issue, Tharoor said that the matter is pending in the court, but questions have been raised on the credibility of the Election Commission. He said that the delay in releasing the data related to votes is raising questions in the minds of the people.
Condemning the calling of farmers terrorists, Tharoor said that protesting is the right of farmers. On the issue of not forming an alliance with AAP in Punjab, he said that alliances will be formed according to the equation in different states and this method has been implemented in Punjab and Delhi.
Regarding Kejriwal's arrest, Tharoor said that the allegations being made against him for the last two years are baseless and demanded a fair investigation. He said that any case should be investigated impartially but it is wrong to target only Kejriwal. He said that trade with China has tripled and asked whether this is not a matter of concern. Nothing special has been done regarding PoK in the last ten years, but Chinese soldiers have occupied 26 points of China. Tharoor did not answer the question of release of captive lions.
