Driving License Rules: Some rules and laws have been made for driving on the road in India. To drive a vehicle, it is also necessary to have a driving license under the Motor Act. But often when people go out for a trip in a car, in a hurry they forget their driving license at home.
In such a situation, a question arises in the minds of people that will the police take action against those without a driving license? Will their vehicle be confiscated? Let us tell you the answers to all these questions today. Along with this, let us tell you what you should do if you have forgotten your driving license at home.
No action will be taken even if you forget your driving license at home
Earlier, if someone forgot his driving license at home, the police would issue a challan. In such a situation, people had no option other than paying the challan. But now the Transport Ministry of India has issued these rules for the police and traffic police. If a person does not keep a physical document with him while driving, be it a driving license or the RC of the vehicle.
Even after this, the police cannot issue a challan to him. Provided he presents these documents digitally. That is, if a person has forgotten his driving license at home. Then he should show the driving license to the police over the phone itself. In such a situation, no action will be taken against him. The rules are not clear about showing the photo taken of the driving license. But if you show the driving license saved in DigiLocker, then you will definitely be saved.
DigiLocker will be useful
DigiLocker was launched in the year 2015 by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. It works like a digital locker in which you can keep your documents safe. All the documents kept in it are as valid as physical documents. Be it Aadhar card or driving license.
This means that now you do not need to carry your driving license while driving. If you want, you can link your driving license to DigiLocker. And you can also appear before the police and traffic police if needed.
