Ranchi, May 27 (HS). Under the National Adolescent Health Program, May 28 will be celebrated as Menstrual Hygiene Day across the state. State Nodal Officer of National Adolescent Health Program, Dr. R.N. Sharma has written a letter in this regard to the Civil Surgeons of all the districts and issued instructions to make the program a success.
It is written in the letter that due to summer vacation in the schools, this program is to be conducted in every health sub-center, all Yuva Maitri Kendras, Adolescent Friendly Club, outreach session from 28th May to 30th May, where information on menstrual hygiene will be given through IEC activities such as pamphlets, posters, banners. During the outreach session, the Block Training Team (BTT) will make the adolescent girls aware about menstrual hygiene. Essay, drawing, quiz competitions will be organized by ANM, Block Training Team (BTT), Peer Educator, Aarsh Counsellor in Adolescent Friendly Club.
Group counseling related to menstrual hygiene will be given by Adolescent Friendly Club, Yuva Maitri Kendra, Outreach Session by Aarsh Counselor and ANM. State IEC Nodal Officer of National Health Mission, Dr. Lal Manjhi told that every year 28th May is celebrated as World Menstrual Hygiene Day. It was started in the year 2014 by German NGO Wash United. Its purpose is to make young girls and women aware about taking care of hygiene during menstruation.
