Dharamshala, May 27 (HS). Congress candidate from Kangra-Chamba parliamentary constituency Anand Sharma appealed to the people of both the districts to vote in his favour in the public meetings of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi held at Chaugan Maidan in Chamba district and Chambi Maidan under Shahpur assembly constituency of Kangra district. In his address on this occasion, he said that two different ideologies are face to face in the general elections of the country.
He said that on one side there is the 138-year-old Congress which led the country's freedom struggle. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was one of the great heroes of the freedom movement. After Nehru became the Prime Minister, strong institutions of India were formed, big industries were set up, educational institutions opened, the country's infrastructure was developed. The world saluted his thinking.
He said that it is because of the hard work and work of the Congress governments that today our youth have got the power to make their identity. The communication revolution that led to the smart phones in the hands of our youth today was initiated by former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi. The ideology of the Congress is inclusive. The other ideology is that of the BJP, which is narrow. The current central government is drawing lines of language, region and religion between the North and the South. It is necessary to stop this.
Anand Sharma said that it was promised during the freedom struggle that democracy will be established in independent India. The constitution will give equal status to everyone. The country has 30 states, 18 languages and they have their own literature. Congress's identity is that India's diversity and unity in diversity is India's strength. The constitution has given the right to one vote, which is equally available to the rich and the poor.
Expressing apprehension, he said that behind claiming a huge majority, the intention of BJP and PM Modi is to change the constitution. The Election Commission had not even announced the elections, not even a single candidate had filed nomination papers, then the PM and Home Minister started saying that this time the number will cross 400. He called it an insult to the constitution and the voters and said that the people of the country will have to think that when their mentality is like this, then what would be their intention.
He said that the things said by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mandi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Dharamshala are contrary to the truth and ground reality. He said that this time a different wind is blowing in the country and this time they will not be able to cross 200, forget about 400. Their job is to make promises again and again and every time they come up with a new promise. Now everyone cannot be fooled together. He said that the country is asking questions that where are the 20 crore jobs, why is inflation not coming down. Why are farmers not getting the right to MSP.
