Mumbai: A lover living in a live-in relationship in Mumbai beat his girlfriend's 15-month-old child to death. The child's mother was also present at the time of the incident. After this incident, both of them threw the child's body in the drain and lodged a complaint of child kidnapping in the police station. However, the police solved the case after a thorough investigation and arrested the couple. After the arrest, Bernan was produced in the court and the police sent both of them to police custody till May 28.
The accused have been identified as Rajesh Rana (28) and Rinki Das (23), both hailing from Odisha. According to the police, both Rinki and Rajesh had come to Mumbai four months ago. Rinki's 15-month-old child was also with them. Both of them used to work as laborers living in the same Jogeshwari area. The next day after the murder of the child, when the child went missing, the couple went to the police station and lodged a complaint of kidnapping. On further investigation of the case, the police came to know that the lover Rajesh had beaten his girlfriend Rinki's 15-month-old child to death and threw him in the drain here.
Further investigation into the case revealed the shocking information that both Rajesh and Rinki were already married. Rinki had a child from her first marriage. However, along with leaving her first husband, she also left the child with her husband. After the first marriage broke, Rinki got attracted to her uncle and became pregnant. On getting to know about the incident, a panchayat was called and the uncle promised to marry Rinki in front of the panchayat. But one day the uncle ran away saying that he had to go out for work.
Shortly after giving birth to her second child, she fell in love with Rajesh. After this, both of them ran away to Mumbai. Rajesh did not like someone else's child living here. That's why he was constantly beating the child. Even on the day of the incident, Rajesh forcibly beat the child with kicks and punches. So the child died. Rinki was present there at this time but she did not speak a single word. Finally the child was thrown into the drain so that no one would know about the murder. The police investigated the case thoroughly and arrested both of them within a few hours.
