Guwahati (Assam), May 25 (HS). Three people were arrested in connection with the attack on a police team near the Meghalaya border. The arrested attackers have been identified as Aizul Haque Mandal, Soyed Ali and Akhirul Islam.
Giving this information through social media, Assam Director General of Police GP Singh said that this arrest has been made in connection with the attacks on the South Salmara police team by a violent mob during the night of May 23. A police officer was injured in this attack near the Assam-Meghalaya border in Khalsamari area.
In the early hours of the morning, a joint operation was launched by the team of South Salmara Police Station and Rajabala Police Station of Meghalaya. The aim of the operation was to nab a group of individuals who had forcefully taken possession of eight buffaloes. However, the situation quickly deteriorated. The mob turned violent and started targeting the police team. A police officer sustained injuries during the confrontation.
