Funds booked profits in FMCG, pharma, IT stocks | Live Updates, Unveiling the Latest India News Trends

Mumbai: The record rally in the Indian stock markets came to a halt today at the end of the week. The demand in the US increased again as European countries, US. Indian markets lagged behind global markets today, as prices fell despite a positive outlook from OPEC as well as a general decline in Asian countries and a fall in global non-ferrous metal copper prices after the US stock markets fell 606 points yesterday with the Dow Jones falling 606 points. The record rally in the stock markets has come to a halt due to the report of the Federal Reserve delaying interest rate cuts. At the end of a two-way narrow range, the Sensex closed 7.65 points lower at 75410.39 and the spot Nifty closed 10.55 points lower at 22957.10.

Capital Goods Index gained 748 points

The BSE Capital Goods index today closed 748.07 points higher at 70235.49 due to continued aggressive buying by funds in capital goods stocks. Finolex Cables rose Rs 137.85 to Rs 1282.60, Teamcan rose Rs 240.70 to Rs 4101, Bharat Forge rose Rs 79.85 to Rs 1573.40, Hindustan Aeronautics rose Rs 211.25 to Rs 5160, Larsen & Toubro rose Rs 39.80 to Rs 3625.95, SKF India rose Rs 55.60 to Rs 6212.40.

Selling in FMCG stocks

Funds were selling FMCG stocks including ITC due to weak results. ITC profit fell one percent, shares fell by Rs 5.10 to Rs 436.10, Hindustan Unilever fell by Rs 14.50 to Rs 2366.15, Britannia fell by Rs 38.75 to Rs 5242.15. However, there was selective rise in the shares of brewery companies. Mon Distilleries price rose by Rs 14.70 to Rs 141.30, GM Breweries price rose by Rs 39.55 to Rs 673.45, Balrampur Chinese price rose by Rs 11.35 to Rs 388.30, Vadilal Industries price rose by Rs 136.75 to Rs 4986.30.

IT index fell by 190 points

In IT-Software Services, technology stocks again traded with cautious gains, following softness in many stocks in the US. TCS fell Rs 44.35 to Rs 3850.75, Tech Mahindra fell Rs 15.80 to Rs 1321.90, Oracle Finserv fell Rs 80.55 to Rs 7544, HCL Technologies fell Rs 10.65 to Rs 1342.75. BSE IT index closed 189.90 points lower at 34517.19.

Oil stocks rise as crude prices fall

International crude oil prices fell despite a positive outlook from OPEC, with funds in oil-gas stocks trading lower with Brent crude falling 66 cents to $80.70 and New York-Nymex crude dropping 67 cents to $76.20 at the close. GAIL rose Rs 3.95 to Rs 204.40, HPCL rose Rs 7.45 to Rs 543.05, BPCL rose Rs 6.65 to Rs 654. The BSE oil-gas index closed 153.73 points higher at 29,562.62.

945 crore sales by FIIs

Foreign Portfolio Investors – FPIs, FIIs net sold shares worth Rs 3670.95 crore in cash today on Friday. Total sales of Rs 12,509.02 crore were made against purchases of Rs 11,564.19 crore. While DIIs-Domestic Institutional Investors net bought shares worth Rs 2320.32 crore in cash today. Total sales of Rs 11,155.38 crore were made against purchases of Rs 13,475.70 crore.
