Ranchi, May 24 (HS). Voting for Ranchi Lok Sabha is to be held on May 25 from 7 am to 5 pm. All preparations for conducting the voting have been completed. Voting is to be held at a total of 2037 polling stations for the Ranchi Lok Sabha seat. A total of 9770 polling personnel have been deployed for the voting. Out of these, 1622 polling personnel have been kept in reserve. The polling personnel were dispatched from Morhabadi Ground on Friday with EVMs. 1113 vehicles were used to send them to the polling stations, including 227 passenger and school buses, 174 mini buses, eight trucks and 709 small vehicles. Apart from these, 2377 autos, totos and small vehicles have been arranged by the district administration to take the helpless to the polling stations for voting. There will be a total of 2851 presiding officers to conduct the election. There will be 444 presiding officers in Ranchi, 577 in Kanke and 594 in Hatia.
A total of 102 women polling booths have been set up in Ranchi district, where 408 women workers will conduct the polling. Two polling booths for the disabled have also been set up. Apart from this, a total of 268 sector magistrates and 20 super zonal magistrates have been appointed.
Returning Officer Rahul Kumar Sinha said on Friday that 10 booths will be operated by young employees. He said that six booths located in Government Girls High School in Bariatu have been prepared on the theme of Jharkhand Women Hockey and Government Middle School in Tetri, Namkum has been made a modern polling station. He said that for fear-free and fair voting, strict and strong security arrangements have been made at all the booths in Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that under Section 135 B of the Representation of People Act 1951 and Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, a public holiday has been declared on the polling day. He has requested all public/private enterprises to provide paid holiday to the employees of Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency. He said that there is no need to close the establishment for this, provide paid leave only to the employees of Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency, leaving aside the employees of other districts working in the establishment.
The total number of voters in Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency is 21,97,331. Of these, 11,23,524 are men and 10,84,738 are women. The highest number of voters is 4,99,413 in Hatia assembly constituency and 4,63,724 in Kanke. At the same time, there are 3,64,424 voters in Khijri, 3,60,799 in Ranchi, 2,87,125 in Ichagarh and 2,21,846 in Silli.
