Seven people have died in Kerala due to flash floods and lightning caused by pre-monsoon rains. Five people have died in Rajasthan, two in Haryana and four in Madhya Pradesh due to extreme heat.

Heat may reach 50 degrees in Rajasthan

Six cities of Rajasthan are included in the top 10 hottest cities of the country. The temperature in Barmer was recorded at 48.8 degrees. The temperature in other cities is also above 47 degrees. Apart from this, Nautapa is also starting from 24 May which is a 9-day scorching heat. During this time, the temperature in many places in Rajasthan can cross 50 degrees Celsius.

Alert in these states

The Meteorological Department has declared a red alert for heat wave in Rajasthan, Punjab and Gujarat and rain in Kerala. Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are experiencing heat, while an orange alert has been issued for rain in Tamil Nadu. Sikkim and Arunachal are the only states in the country for which the department has not issued any severe weather warning.
