Wellington: Have you ever thought that a bird's feather can be as valuable as gold? There is a debate going on on social media right now. This discussion is about the feathers selling for Rs 23 lakh per bird. Currently, it was auctioned in New Zealand. According to a report, the price of a feather of a Huiya bird weighing 9 grams is more than gold. In India, the price of 10 grams of gold is Rs 68,000.
According to this calculation, the price of the feather is said to be equal to 300 grams of gold. The belief of the Maori community of New Zealand is behind this high price. They consider this bird sacred.
The chief of the Maori community used to wear the feathers of this small bird as their hat. It was also given as a gift. Initially, the price of these feathers was set at $3,000. After this, breaking all previous records, its price increased by 450 percent more than that price.
The price of these feathers was $28,417 i.e. Rs 23 lakh 66 thousand. According to the New Zealand Museum, the Huia bird was last seen in 1907. It is believed that the feathers sold in this auction are more than 100 years old.
