New Delhi, May 24 (HS). Fourteen-time champion Rafael Nadal is set to face Alexander Zverev in the first round of the 2024 French Open. The draw for the tournament was announced on Thursday.
It will be a rematch of their semi-final two years ago when Zverev suffered an ankle injury that forced him to retire from the competition.
Nadal missed last year's edition due to a hip injury and it is likely this could be his last appearance on clay.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic will take on local wildcard Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the opening round.
Nadal and Djokovic are in the same half of the draw and could clash in the semi-finals. Defending Australian Open champion and second seed Jannik Sinner will begin his campaign against Christopher Eubanks of the USA.
Third seed Carlos Alcaraz, a two-time major champion, will face the winner of a qualifier in the first round.
