Ujjain, 23 May (HS). The Municipal Corporation has started action along with the district administration and police for widening from KD Gate to Imli intersection on Thursday morning. Widening: Action is being taken to remove parts of 13 temples, 1 tomb, 2 mosques, 2 Jain temples and other obstacles falling under the JD.
The administration team arrived on Thursday morning to remove the affected parts of religious places and houses which were coming in the way of widening the road from KD Gate to Imli Chauraha in Ujjain. People of the Muslim community came out in protest against this. Women sat on the road in front of the mosque. When the municipal corporation and police officials explained, the people of the community themselves decided to demolish the part of the mosque.
The widening work started from KD Gate to Imli intersection in June 2023. The road is to be widened by 15 meters. As part of the widening, 13 temples, 1 tomb, 2 mosques, 2 Jain temples are coming under JD. The galleries and front portions of 32 houses are also to be demolished. After this, central light will be installed on this route by drawing a line on the pole and other incomplete works will be completed.
The affected part of the Jain temple was removed by the community itself
To take action, the police-administration and municipal corporation team inspected the road on Wednesday. Announcement was also made. By late evening the officials had sent barricades to be installed on the entire route. Meanwhile, the people of the society had started the process of removing the affected part of the Jain temple of Shwetambar community located in Nayapura. Similarly, the administrators were busy in evacuating the affected part of Kamdarpura Mosque.
When the staff showed up, they started protesting.
The Municipal Corporation team along with the police force arrived at 5 am on Thursday to remove the affected areas. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashish Pathak, ADM Anukul Jain, Additional SP Jayant Rathore along with three CSPs and TIs of four police stations reached the spot. When people saw the corporation and police personnel outside the house in the morning, they started protesting.
