Lakhs of railway security personnel responsible for the safe operation of more than 22,000 passenger trains and goods trains daily in Indian Railways will get safety equipment and uniforms on time. Railway Board has issued new orders in this regard. A senior official of the Railway Board said that in many zones, uniforms and safety equipment are not provided on time to railway security personnel like gatemen, pointmen, cabinmen, liverymen etc. In this regard, the Railway Board has issued an order to distribute safety equipment and uniforms to the said security personnel (shunting staff).
In which Rs 1200 will be given annually for waterproof raincoat and Rs 2500 will be given in two years for winter jacket. Under the alternative arrangement, a provision of Rs 10,000 has been made for jackets, trousers, gloves, snow boots, caps etc. Rs 24,00 will be given for safety boot-torch. He said that every year more than 200 security personnel meet in accidents while running the trains safely. Zonal Railways have been given strict orders to organize and timely provide necessary measures for their safety.
Proposal for promotion up to level-5 ready
Railway Board has prepared a proposal for promotion to Level-5 for Pointmen. Due to which there will be a huge increase in his salary. A proposal in this regard has been sent to the Finance Ministry. It will be implemented after getting the green signal from there. A senior officer said that at present recruitment is being done at Pointman Level-1 (Grade Pay- Rs 1800). After working whole life the person retires at the second level (Grade Pay – Rs 1900).
The official said that in the new proposal, there will be a provision for promotion in level-four and level-five in addition to level-one and two in the pointman category. Pointman will get grade pay of Rs 2400 in Level-4 and Rs 2800 in Level-5.
