India's young opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal will now have an eye on a record of former Indian captain Virat Kohli in the fourth Test match of the five-match series against England starting tomorrow in Ranchi. If Jaiswal succeeds in scoring 111 runs in this match, he will break Virat Kohli's record.
Virat Kohli holds the record for the highest score by an Indian batsman in a bilateral Test series in the 21st century. He scored 655 runs against England during the 2016/17 home series. Yashasvi Jaiswal has so far scored 545 runs in the first three matches of the five-match Test series.
As soon as he scores 111 runs in the next two innings of Ranchi Test, he will break this record of Virat Kohli. Sunil Gavaskar holds the Indian record for scoring 700 or more runs in a bilateral Test series.
