Pluses imports will increase in India: The central government has planned to increase the import of pulses from many countries. This decision has been taken to control the rising prices of pulses. The prices of pulses have been continuously increasing for some time, in such a situation the government has come up with the new PM Asha scheme. Which guarantees purchase of pulse crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Duty free import of all pulses other than Maga begins
Import duty of all pulses except Maga is being made free. A balanced policy is needed to increase the production of pulses in the country. The country is still dependent on imports to meet the needs of pulses. The government is trying to make it self-reliant.
40 million tonnes of pulses will be required by 2030
From January 1, 2023 till now, the government has issued 11 notifications on pulses. Experts are saying that everyone is suffering losses due to frequent policy changes. After July, 10 million tonnes of yellow peas will reach the market. Which costs Rs. There will be a reduction of Rs 1.5 to 2 per kg.
Imports from these countries will increase
The government is focusing on increasing the production of urad and desi gram abroad. Due to which the import of pulses from Australia, Brazil and other countries will increase. Discussions are also going on regarding the import of pulses from Argentina. Along with this, the government has also allowed duty-free import from May 4. Duty-free import of desi gram will continue till March 2025. Along with this, duty-free import of pulses including tur, urad, lentils, yellow peas, desi gram will be allowed.
