No criminal case will be filed against the police officer whose car hit an Indian student in Seattle city of America.
The King County District Attorney's Office in Seattle has decided not to file any charges against accused officer Kevin Dave. The public prosecutor's office says the decision has been taken to drop the case against the officer due to lack of sufficient evidence. Now he will not face any criminal charges.
It is said that on January 23, Indian student Janvi Kandula, who was crossing the road in Seattle, was hit by Kevin Dave's car and this 23-year-old Indian student died. At the time of the accident the speed of Kevin's car was 119 km per hour. Janvi fell 100 feet away due to the collision with the car.
The most shocking thing was that after Janvi's death, a video of the police officer had gone viral and in it he was seen laughing carefree at Janvi's death. In the video, he is heard laughingly talking to someone on the phone and saying that she is dead and she is 26 years old, so her life has no special value.
This case of cruel attitude of the police officer created a lot of uproar. Janvi was pursuing a master's degree course at North Eastern University and was scheduled to graduate in December this year. Janvi's mother is a single mother and she had taken a loan and sent Janvi to study in America.
Public prosecutor Lisa Manion said Kandula's death was heartbreaking and had a worldwide impact, but no action would be taken against the police officer due to insufficient evidence in the case.
