In the first session of the day, bears put pressure on the market, but in the second session, bulls put in a lot of effort. Due to this, the stock market recovered and reached the green mark. Due to profit booking at the last moment, the stock market lost its gains. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a weakness of 0.07 percent. Nifty ended today's trading with a gain of 0.12 percent.
During the day's buying and selling, the most buying was seen in the stocks of commodity, metal, power and utility sector. There was a decline in the stocks of FMCG, IT and banking sector. In today's trade, the BSE midcap and smallcap index made a new record of all-time high. Due to last minute profit booking, the smallcap index closed with a weakness of 0.18 percent. The midcap index ended today's trade with a strength of 0.34 percent.
Today, despite the weakness of the market, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 2 lakh crore due to purchases in midcap shares. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased to Rs 414.53 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. Their market capitalization on the last trading day i.e. Saturday was Rs 412.35 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 2.18 lakh crore from today's trading.
Today, there was active trading in 4,087 shares in BSE during the day's trading. Of these, 1,621 shares closed with gains, while 2,314 shares were in decline, while 152 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,322 shares in NSE today. Of these, 900 shares closed in the green mark after earning profit and 1,422 shares closed in the red mark after incurring a loss. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 16 shares closed with gains and 14 shares closed with decline. Out of the stocks included in Nifty, 26 stocks closed in the green mark and 24 stocks closed in the red mark.
BSE Sensex opened today with a weakness of 162.98 points at the level of 73,842.96 points. After the start of trading, due to selling pressure, this index fell by 243.57 points to reach the level of 73,762.37 points. However, shopping started in the market after 11 pm. With the support of continuous buying, this index recovered more than 400 points from the low level by 1 pm and reached the level of 74,189.19 points with a gain of 183.25 points. After this, there was pressure for profit booking, due to which the Sensex closed at the level of 73,953.31 points with a weakness of 52.63 points.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty today started trading at 22,404.55 points, falling 97.45 points. There was continuous pressure on the market in the trading till 11 noon, but after that the buyers made their presence felt. With the support of buying, by 1 pm this index jumped by more than 180 points from the low level and reached the level of 22,591.10 points with a gain of 89.10 points. After this, profit booking started in the market, due to which the movement of this index also declined. After the day's buying and selling, Nifty closed at 22,529.05 points with a gain of 27.05 points.
After the whole day's trading, among the big stocks of the stock market, Hindalco Industries with a gain of 5.04 percent, Coal India by 4.46 percent, Tata Steel by 3.84 percent, JSW Steel by 3.67 percent and Adani Ports by 3.38 percent are included in the list of today's top 5 gainers.
