On Monday, a pickup vehicle fell into a 30 feet deep ditch in Kawardha. 19 people died in this. All the deceased were cremated today. The last rites of 17 people were performed in this village. While the last rites of two dead women were performed in another village. Meanwhile, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma also attended the funeral of 17 people. It was a tearful moment when 11 people were cremated on the same pyre as they all belonged to the same family.
After the horrific road accident in Kawardha, Chhattisgarh, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma reached Semhara village today i.e. on Tuesday. The last rites of 19 people were performed here today. This scene was heartbreaking. The last rites of 17 people were performed simultaneously. The last rites of the other two women were performed at their in-laws' house. When the last rites of 17 people were being performed, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma also became emotional.
When 11 dead bodies were cremated on the same pyre, everyone's eyes became moist. All these 11 people belonged to the same family. According to local tradition, if there is more than one death in the family, their last rites are performed on the same pyre.
On Monday, all the villagers had gone out from Semhara on a pickup to pick lotus leaves. After this, at around 2 o'clock in the afternoon they all were returning to the village. Then the pickup vehicle fell into a 30 feet deep ditch near Bahpani village. 19 people died in this accident. The dead include 18 women and one man. More than 7 people have also been injured in this accident.
As soon as information about the accident was received, the police reached the spot and with the help of local people immediately took the injured to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. CM Vishnudev Sai has instructed doctors and officials for better treatment of the injured. Chief Minister Sai has announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh to the family of each deceased. It has been said that an assistance amount of Rs 50 thousand will be given to the injured.
Expressing grief over the accident, PM Modi said that the road accident in Kawardha, Chhattisgarh is very painful. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this accident. Also, I wish speedy recovery to all the injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in providing all possible help to the victims.
Expressing grief over this accident, CM Sai said that 18 villagers were killed and 7 were injured when a pickup overturned near Bahipani village of Kukdur police station area of Kabirdham district. Necessary instructions have been given to the district administration for better treatment of the injured. I pray to God for the peace of the departed souls and express my deepest condolences to their families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
