China won 3 gold medals on the fourth day of Para Athletics Championship

Kobe, May 21 (Hindustan Reporter) Chinese athletes won three gold medals and set a new world record at the Para Athletics Championships here on Monday.

In the women's 100 m T36 final, China's Shi Yiting broke the world record by clocking 13.35 seconds and won her fourth consecutive World Championships gold medal in the event.

China won the medals in the men's 400 m T54, with Hu Yang breaking the championship record to win gold in 44.98, followed by his compatriots Dai Yanqiang and Zhang Ying.

Zhou Lijuan won the women's shot put F34 final with a championship record throw of 9.11 metres.

Also on Monday, China's Huang Jun and An Dongquan won bronze medals in the men's shot put F41 and javelin throw F38 finals respectively.

China topped the medal tally with 13 gold, nine silver and 11 bronze on Monday, the fourth day of the nine-day competition. Held in East Asia for the first time, the World Championships will serve as a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The championships feature over 1,000 athletes from 100 countries and territories competing in 168 events.

A total of 73 Chinese para-athletes are competing in the championships, which runs till May 25. Originally scheduled for 2021, the event was postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
