New Delhi, May 20 (Hindustan Reporter) The arguments on behalf of Jagdish Tytler regarding framing of charges in the Pulbangash Gurdwara violence case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots were completed in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court. Special judge Rakesh Syal ordered the next hearing on May 30.
During the hearing today, Jagdish Tytler was presented through video conferencing. Advocate Manu Sharma, appearing for Jagdish Tytler, said that the CBI had filed two closure reports in this case. In 2009, a charge sheet was filed against co-accused Suresh Kumar Panewala, who was acquitted by the trial court. Manu Sharma said that there were no witnesses in this case from 1984 to 2022-23. How can witnesses produced after such a long time be trusted?
Earlier, Manu Sharma had demanded acquittal of Jagdish Tytler in this case. Earlier, taking the name of Gurpatwant Pannun on behalf of Jagdish Tytler, it was said that since Pannun was the lawyer of the witnesses and he had been declared a terrorist by India, there was no point in running a case against Jagdish Tytler and he should not be tried in this case. Should be acquitted.
In this case, CBI had completed the arguments on framing of charges on April 16. On August 4, 2023, the Sessions Court of Rouse Avenue Court had granted anticipatory bail to Jagdish Tytler. The court had taken cognizance of the charge sheet filed against Jagdish Tytler on July 26, 2023. CBI has booked Tytler in this case under sections 147, 109 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code. According to CBI, Tytler had instigated the mob, after which the mob set fire to the Gurudwara in Pulbangash.
