New Delhi, May 20 (Hindustan Reporter) Heat continues to wreak havoc in many areas of North India including the capital Delhi. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heat wave to severe heat wave in different areas of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, many areas of West Rajasthan, some parts of East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and West Madhya Pradesh. With this, there is a possibility of heat wave in some areas of Himachal Pradesh.
It is noteworthy that on Sunday the temperature in Najafgarh, Delhi had crossed 47 degrees.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for Delhi and surrounding areas for the next two days. With this, the people of Delhi are likely to get no respite from the heat for the next five days. In view of this scorching heat, people have been advised to take precautions.
Dr. Neeraj Nischal, Professor, Department of Medicine, AIIMS, said that people should be careful with measures to prevent heat. Because in temperatures above 40 degrees, the body temperature also increases which has adverse effects on the organs. He advised that to prevent heat stroke, one should avoid exposure to strong sunlight and consume plenty of water.
