Karnataka/New Delhi, 20 May (HIST). Karnataka government has appointed Kushal Choukse as the new DCP Law and Order of Hubli-Dharwad city. He will replace M Rajeev. Hubli-Dharwad Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) M Rajeev has been suspended in the Anjali Ambigera murder case.
Anjali (20) was allegedly stabbed to death by her neighbor Girish Sawant (23) on May 15 after she rejected his love proposal. This incident came to light right after the Neha Hiremath murder case. Neha (23) was stabbed to death by her former classmate Fazaz Khodunaik at her college campus in Hubli on April 18.
During this period, Rajiv was the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) of Hubli-Dharwad city. A week before the murder, Neha's mother had filed a complaint against Girish alleging that he was torturing her. But no action was taken. After the murder, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) M Rajeev was suspended on Sunday. The Karnataka government today issued a notification regarding the appointment of the new Deputy Commissioner.
