Moradabad, May 20 (HS). Bangladeshi refugees living in Moradabad division have started applying for Indian citizenship after the Central Government granted citizenship to people under the CAA law. 198 Bangladeshi refugees from Bilaspur in Rampur district of Moradabad division have applied for Indian citizenship on the CAA web portal http:ndiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/. According to the Chairman of the Divisional Level Committee of CAA, Moradabad, the work of document verification of the applicants will be started soon.
Under the Citizenship Amendment Act implemented by the Central Government, refugees living in Moradabad division will also be given citizenship of the country. Due to which 198 refugees from Rampur district of the division have applied online for Indian citizenship. The form will be scrutinized by Divisional Level Committee Chairman and Postal Senior Superintendent Amit Dutt. If the forms are found to be as per the rules, they will be sent to the Home Ministry for granting citizenship to the applicants. Applications for Indian citizenship have started coming from April 14th.
Moradabad Divisional Level Committee Chairman and Senior Superintendent of Posts, Amit Dutt, said that people have applied for citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The work of document verification of the applicants will be started soon. Applicants will be informed about the date and time through email and SMS to appear in person along with original documents.
