The KP.2 variant, which arrived in January, spread to many parts of Maharashtra by March and April. A slight increase in cases was seen in March. At that time, an average of 250 cases were reported due to the KP.2 variant. Apart from Pune and Thane, seven cases each have been reported in Amravati and Aurangabad. Apart from this, two cases of KP.2 and one case of KP.2 were reported in Ahmednagar, Nashik, Larur and Sangli. It is noteworthy that no case of this has been reported so far in Mumbai.
