Ranchi, May 19 (HS). Havildar Basant Kumar (41) of CRPF 133 battalion attempted suicide by consuming pesticide and was admitted to Paras Hospital. Where he died on Sunday during treatment. In his dying declaration, he told Jagannathpur Police that his Deputy Commandant (ADM) Mrityunjay Kumar was harassing him for a month due to which he committed suicide after getting fed up. His deputy commandant will be responsible for his death.
He told the police that he had also written a suicide note which he had kept on WhatsApp and sent to his son. After the death of Basant Kumar, Jagannathpur Police took the statement of his son Ritu Raj and after post-mortem at RIMS, the body was handed over to his son. Basant Kumar currently lived in quarter number-B-116 of Sector 2. He was originally a resident of Dhardhara village in Baishali district of Bihar.
In this regard, Jagannathpur police station in-charge said that CRPF Havildar has committed suicide and the reason behind his suicide has come to light of torture by the Deputy Commandant. The police is investigating the matter After the post-mortem, Basant Kumar's body was taken to the CRPF camp, where he was given the last salute. After that the body was taken to his ancestral house in Baishali. Basant Kumar has a son and a daughter.

Havildar Basant Kumar has written in his suicide note that he was working as the Mess Commander of the Non-Gazetted Officers Mess of 133 Battalion Sector Two Dhurwa, Ranchi. Deputy Commander (ADM) of that mess Mrityunjay Kumar is the secretary. In the note he has written that he has been mentally harassing Bansat Kumar for the last one month. He has outstanding mess bill of about Rs 9000, liquor bill of Rs 6926 and cash bill of Rs 6050, totaling Rs 21976. He always says to adjust the said amount. How can we small employees adjust so much money? We remain under a lot of stress regarding this. Because of this there is no other solution except suicide. We are very small employees in CRPF, our views are suppressed. For this reason, many CRPF soldiers are forced to commit suicide.
He has written the suicide note in the name of SP, in which it is written that after my death, he will take strict action against that officer. The Deputy Commandant has repeatedly threatened me with punishment like investigation and strict action. I am taking this step under great compulsion. He has written in the suicide note that who does not love his life. Who does not love his life, but takes wrong steps out of compulsion? In the end he has written that action should be taken against the Deputy Commandant, so that no soldier takes such steps in future.
