The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of heat wave in many districts of the state. The maximum temperature will increase in Shimla and other districts for the next five days. According to the forecast released by the department, there will be no respite from the heat in the next four-five days.
Director of Meteorological Center Shimla, Surendra Pal said that heat wave is likely to continue in different parts of the plain districts Una and Bilaspur. There is a possibility of severe heat in Hamirpur, Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, Una and Shimla districts for the next four-five days. The maximum temperature in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan (Nalagarh, Baddi, Parwanoo), Sirmaur (Dhaula Kuan, Paonta Sahib) and Kangra (Gaggal, Nurpur, Indora, Fatehpur, Dehra, Jaswan) will rise by two to three degrees Celsius. During this time, the minimum temperature of the plain and central areas of the state will also continue to increase. He has appealed to the people to be cautious due to the possibility of heat wave and has urged to take more care of children, elderly and sick people.
Heat wave occurred in 10 cities during the last 24 hours, including Shimla, Dharamshala, Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Una, Solan, Palampur, Gaggal, Mandi and Bilaspur. He said that there is no possibility of rain in the plains till May 25. There will be a yellow alert of heat wave in these areas till May 23. There may be rain and snowfall in medium altitude and high altitude areas on 20th and 21st May.

Seven cities of the state also recorded maximum mercury above 40 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The mercury remained above normal in most areas of the state including Shimla. The highest temperature was recorded at 44.2 degrees in Una, 43.2 degrees in Neri of Hamirpar, 42.2 degrees in Bilaspur, 41.8 degrees in Dhaula Kuan, 40.3 degrees in Sundernagar, 40.2 degrees in Barthin and 40 degrees Celsius in Kangra.
