Araria 19 May (His). Police raided FCI Chowk ward number four of Forbesganj and recovered a consignment of banned codeine-laced cough syrup and intoxicating medicines from a car. However, during the police action the accused managed to escape from the spot.
Giving information, SDPO Mukesh Kumar Saha at Forbesganj police station said that the SP had received secret information that a huge consignment of codeine-laced cough syrup and drugs was going to reach Forbesganj in a Mahindra Marazzo car.
Under the information, a special raid team was formed under the leadership of Forbesganj SDPO Mukesh Kumar Saha. In which Police Sub Inspector Raunak Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Awadhesh Kumar Singh, Deepak Kumar, Rajeev Kumar Singh and PTC Amardeep Kumar were included. When the special team saw the vehicle number – BR 11 PB/5457 mentioned by the SP standing at the door of the vehicle driver Umesh Sardar, father of Siddi Sardar, located at FCI Chowk Ward No. 4, the police investigated the vehicle.
The police recovered from the vehicle about 2200 bottles of codeine cough syrup (about 220 litres) kept in 15 cartoons and a consignment of 28 thousand 320 pieces of intoxicating medicines kept in two cartoons. SDPO said that during the police action Driver Umesh Sardar fled from the spot. Continuous raids are being conducted by the police to arrest him. FIR registered in Forbesganj police station in the case number -336/24 dated 19.05.2024 under Section 21(C), 22 of IPC. A case has been registered under Section 23 and NDPS Act. The police is busy investigating the backward and forward links of drug dealers.
