Woman dies of diarrhea in Balwapar village of Nawada, dozens affected

Nawada, May 19 (HS). Diarrhea has taken the form of an epidemic in Balwapar-Manjore village of Warisaliganj block area in the district. One woman is reported to have died on Sunday due to it, while 60-70 people are suffering from the disease and are undergoing treatment.

People were falling prey to it for many days. But from Sunday the number of people affected by this disease started increasing. When more people became infected, information was given to PHC. On Sunday afternoon, the medical team from PHC Warisaliganj reached the village and started relief work.

Giving information, villager Sunil Kumar said that Urmila Devi's husband Dashrath Yadav died due to diarrhea. Whereas 60-70 people are affected by it. Information was being given to PHC Warisaliganj since morning. But arrangements for treatment were not made immediately. People who have been affected are getting themselves treated here and there.

The villagers are not in a position to tell anything about how diarrhea spread. There has neither been any collective feast in the village, nor has any puja prasad been distributed. People are also drinking water from tap water supply scheme. The medical team will reach a conclusion after investigation. By the way, it is possible that people may have been affected by the heat wave. At present, the medical team is camping in the village and treating the victims.

PHC in-charge Dr Aarti Archana present in the village says that initial symptoms of diarrhea are not visible in any patient. All those who have come forward ill are reporting different problems. This may happen due to heat. The villagers have demanded from the higher authorities to send a better medical team for treatment.
