JICA team brings forest fire under control in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, May 18 (HS). These days the fire season is at its peak in Himachal Pradesh and more than a hundred incidents are being reported every day. Fire incidents are being detected through satellite through the Fire Alert Portal of Forest Survey of India.

Information about a massive fire in the Barkot forest under Baldwara forest range in Mandi district was received when the meeting of Village Forest Development Committee (VFDS) Sarova was going on on Saturday morning. At the same time all the members of VFDS reached the spot after walking one kilometer. The team of JICA Forestry Project and Forest Department succeeded in extinguishing the fire after hard work.

The team of retired Himachal Pradesh Forest Service officer VP Pathania, SMS Suket Vijay Kumar, VFDS Sarova head Roshan Lal, who was serving in the JICA project under Forest Division Suket, reached the spot. Team members said that the fire was extinguished after several hours of hard work.

It is noteworthy that the Forest Department and JICA Project team are always ready to control the fire during the fire season. CPD JICA Sameer Rastogi appreciated the work of JICA and Forest Department team in controlling the forest fire.
