Jaisalmer, 16 May (HS). The police have succeeded in arresting three thieves who used to steal from homes wearing socks for fun, so that they would not be caught. Also, according to the location of houses at night from Google Map, they used to enter the streets and steal. The gang of these 3 thieves has accepted theft in more than 12 places including Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Hanumangarh. The police is continuously investigating the three and other gang members so that the incidents of theft can be curbed.
SP Sudhir Chaudhary said that on May 13, a complaint was received in Mohangarh police station that a theft had taken place at the house of Islam Khan resident of 6 Dhani Mohangarh on May 12. Islam Khan told in the complaint that at night I and my family were sleeping in the courtyard of the house. Thieves entered my house at night, broke the lock of my room and took away the box kept in the room. When the wife woke up in the morning, she found the lock of the room broken. When she checked the room, there was no chest. It contained gold and silver jewelery and money which the thieves took away. After the commotion, it was revealed that the same night, a chest containing jewelery and cash etc. had been stolen from the neighboring house of Rahim Khan. Everyone together followed the footprints and found Rahim Khan's trunk open in the bushes about 500 meters away and the things kept in the trunk scattered. Islam Khan's trunk was also found a little distance away from it. Mohangarh police inspected the spot and started searching for the thieves.
Used to commit theft by looking at Google Map
SP Sudhir Chaudhary said that the members of the thief gang used bikes and cars for theft. The car was parked at a distance of 300-400 meters from the house. Then the thieves used to select the houses from Google Map first. After which they used to wear 2 to 3 pairs of socks on their feet, so that the sound could be reduced and they could enter the house through windows, doors and roofs to avoid the eyes of sleeping family members. Then they would pick up the trunk full of jewelery and cash, take it to the bushes at a distance of 500-600 meters, take out the contents and run away leaving the trunk behind.
SP Jaisalmer Sudhir Chaudhary formed a special team to nab the gang. The team started searching for the thieves under the leadership of Mohangarh police station in-charge Premprakash. On May 14, with the help of villagers and informers, they followed the vague footprints of the thieves for about 20 km and caught three thieves sitting behind the bushes. Sukhram (25), Gurbachan Singh (26) and Gurdeep Singh (29), all three residents of Hanumangarh, were interrogated and they confessed to the theft. The gang admitted to theft in 12 districts including Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Hanumangarh.
