The whole world knows Oscar award winning musician AR Rahman but his superhit career did not have a good start. Rahman said he had to sell his mother's jewelery so he could buy musical instruments. In an interview, Rahman refreshed his old memories. Singer told how his family helped him. His mother supported him a lot during his struggling days and this was the moment when the singer-composer's world changed. Rahman said that when I built my studio I did not have enough money to buy an amplifier or equalizer. My studio only had AC, a shelf and a carpet. I was sitting there. I built that studio and I used to sit there without any equipment. My first recorder came when I sold my mother's jewelry. Then a different kind of strength came inside me. I had courage. I could see my future. That moment changed my life. Rahman said that I never went to college. There came a time when I started feeling something missing in my life. Rahman said that I was 12 years old and I resembled people of 40 and 50 years.
