Bhopal, May 15 (HS). Madhya Pradesh Police is continuously taking action against criminal elements to maintain law and order. In this series, Damoh Police has revealed the robbery of more than Rs 41 lakh in Madhyanchal Gramin Bank of Fatehpur under Magaron police station within a few hours. Besides, three accused have been arrested and money has also been recovered from them. Damoh Police has seized the motorcycle, pistol, mobile phone used in the incident and the total amount looted from the bank of Rs 41,23,327 from the accused. A case of crime number 97/24 section 394 IPC was registered in Magaron police station. The accused include Fatehpur resident Rohit (25 years) son of Harinarayan Vishwakarma, Pipariya Ghanshyam resident Durgesh alias Kamlesh (25 years) son of Kallu Kachhi and Fatehpur resident Devi alias Divwal (23 years) son of Lotan Kachhi.
Public Relations Officer Ashish Sharma said that on Wednesday, the bank's branch manager Kapil Rakwar reached Fatehpur outpost at 8 pm on May 14, 2024. He told the police that at around 7.45 pm when he reached the bank along with his bank colleague Harinarayan Vishwakarma after inspecting the rural area, the bank's messenger Rohit Vishwakarma informed him about the robbery. Rohit told the manager that some miscreants had come with a cloth tied over their mouth and showed me a pistol and assaulted me. They took out the key from the bag and looted the total amount of the bank kept in the safe which was Rs 41 lakh 23 thousand 327.
On the complaint of the branch manager, senior police officers were informed. Under the guidance of Sagar Zone IG Pramod Verma, DIG Sunil Jain and SP Shrutkirti Somvanshi, a team was immediately formed and investigation was started. Bank employees were interrogated by blocking the road in Damoh. During investigation, contradictions were found between the statements of messenger Rohit and the evidence obtained. After several hours of interrogation, Rohit admitted to carrying out the incident along with his friends Durgesh and Devi.
Rohit told the police that he had a lot of debt, to repay which he planned a robbery with his friends. He was trying to withdraw as much money as possible. He also admitted that the injuries he sustained were self-inflicted.
The team formed by the police included Damoh's Additional Superintendent of Police Sandeep Mishra, Patharia's SDOP Raghu Keshari, Hata's SDOP Nitish Patel and the cyber team, photography and forensic team of the Superintendent of Police's office.
