After two days of gains, the Indian stock market closed with a decline in Wednesday's trading session. The fall in the market was due to profit-booking in FMCG, banking and auto stocks. However, the indices of midcap and smallcap shares remained bullish. At the end of today's trading, BSE Sensex fell 117 points to close at 72,987, below 73,000. At the same time, Nifty of National Stock Exchange closed at 22,200 points with a fall of 17 points.
Market cap increased by Rs 2.50 lakh crore
Despite the fall in the stock market in today's trading session, a sharp increase in the market capitalization of stocks listed on BSE was seen. Market cap of BSE is Rs. Nifty Midcap index closed at 50707 points, up 482 points. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 14 closed with gains and 16 with losses.
