Masala Khichdi Recipe: In most of our homes, Khichdi is prepared occasionally. If masala khichdi is also added to it then it is a different matter. Masala khichdi made by adding tadka tastes very good. Today we are going to tell you an easy recipe to make Masala Khichdi which maintains both taste and health.
Ingredients to make Masala Khichdi
- 100 grams basmati rice
- 50 grams mango dal
- ½ cup green peas
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ¼ cup finely chopped capsicum
- a little chopped coriander
- 1 finely chopped tomato
- 2 finely chopped green chillies
- ½ cup finely chopped cauliflower
- 2-3 spoons ghee
- ½ tsp cumin
- Less than ½ pinch asafoetida
- 1 chopped potato
- ¼ teaspoon garam masala
- ¼ tsp red chilli powder
- ½ inch piece finely chopped ginger
- salt to taste
- Whole garam masala – 7 black peppers and 2 cloves (coarsely crushed)
How to make Masala Khichdi
- – First of all wash Basmati rice and moong thoroughly.
- Soak it in water for half an hour.
- After half an hour, put rice, lentils and two and a half cups of water in the cooker and keep it boiling.
- Let him blow 1 whistle.
- – After this, turn off the gas and let the lentils and rice cook in the cooker until the pressure subsides.
- – Heat 2 tablespoons ghee in a pan.
- – When the ghee starts heating, add cumin seeds to it and fry it.
- -Also slow down the gas and add turmeric powder, green chilli asafoetida, whole spices and ginger in a pan and fry.
- Now add potatoes to this masala and fry until it becomes slightly crisp.
- Cook cauliflower and peas in roasted potatoes for 1 minute until crisp.
- – Now add capsicum and fry for 1 minute.
- – When the vegetables are cooked, add 1 cup water, salt, red chili powder and garam masala.
- After mixing everything well, add 1 cup water to it.
- – Meanwhile, cook khichdi with lentils and rice in the cooker.
- – After the pressure is released, check whether the pulses and rice are cooked properly or not.
- – Add 1 cup more water to the vegetables and let it boil.
- When it boils, add lentils and rice to the pan and mix.
- If the khichdi seems too thick then add some more water and mix for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Khichdi is ready.
- Add some green coriander to it and mix.
- – Take out the khichdi in a bowl.
- Sprinkle some ghee on Veg Masala Khichdi and garnish.
- This increases the taste of Khichdi.
- Papad, curd, pickle and chutney can be served with khichdi.
