Dehradun, 14 May (HS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state media Manveer Singh Chauhan has termed Congress President Karan Mahara's allegation of central institutions fleeing the state as baseless and baseless.
State media in-charge Manveer Chauhan said that Congress first agitates against the projects and then raising questions on their slow construction is its double standards. Congress has not invested even a single penny in its double engine government, so it is not possible to believe in the grounding of an MoU worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the Investor Summit.
He said that Congress's claims regarding power projects in the state are baseless. New projects are going to come into existence soon. The state government has placed 44 projects related to the PMO before the Center and among these, there are 21 hydro power projects on which there is no dispute and they have got the green signal from the Forest and Environment Ministry and the Expert Committee of the Supreme Court. The expert committee formed under the supervision of the Supreme Court has given green signal to 10 projects of 669.30 MW. Whereas 11 projects of 1154.30 MW have received clearance from the Environment Ministry.
Manveer Chauhan said that most of the allegations of the Congress President are based on ignorance, incomplete information or the intention to spread confusion. Construction work is in progress in all the projects implemented by the Navratna companies whose exodus is being made false and baseless. Congress is doing double politics regarding projects in the state. From Joshimath to many other places, Congress has been opposing projects to take political advantage of the immediate circumstances.
He worked to stall for decades projects like Jamrani, Kisau and Lakhwad Vyasi which could have made the state self-reliant in the energy sector. At the same time, Prime Minister Modi has worked to bring these projects pending for years one after the other to the ground. Due to the efforts of Chief Minister Dhami, most of the projects in the state have got in-principle consent for exemption from central environmental rules, which are certain to be taken forward in the new government.
Putting Congress in the dock regarding industrial investment, he said that Congress's hands have been empty in the matter of investment and the industrial package given by the Atal government was also snatched away by the UPA government. In the last 10 years, schemes worth more than Rs 2 lakh crore have been implemented on the ground in the state and not even 15 percent of this was implemented during the tenure of Congress.
