Proper management of biomedical equipment is necessary to strengthen health services.

Jaipur, 13 May (HS). Neha Giri, Managing Director of Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation, said that proper management of biomedical equipment is necessary to provide quality diagnosis and treatment to patients and to strengthen health services. He said that for this, biomedical equipment repair and maintenance program is being run in the state. Repairs and routine maintenance of medical equipment go a long way in improving diagnostic and treatment outcomes.

Neha Giri was addressing the National Symposium organized on Monday on the topic “Biomedical Equipment Management Program Boost: Elevating Hospital Services with Seamless Repair and Maintenance Excellence”. He said that important documents related to the management of biomedical equipment will be prepared in consultation with all the stakeholders in the seminar. Our endeavor is to improve the quality of research and management in the field of biomedical equipment, reduce downtime of equipment and ensure timely delivery of health services. He said that biomedical equipment management helps in increasing the operational efficiency of the equipment as well as reducing the cost.

The Managing Director said that RMSCL has been a leader in the procurement of medicines, surgical and sutures and diagnostic equipment. RMSCL has been leading in the ranking of the Union Health Ministry. He said that under the BEMP program till last month, a total of 1 lakh 43 thousand 631 devices have been mapped in the e-equipment software. Out of 1 lakh 44 thousand 465 online complaints registered since the launch of this program, 1 lakh 44 thousand 234 have been successfully resolved.

Additional Mission Director NHM Arun Garg said that implementing Biomedical Equipment Management reduces the maintenance cost of equipment and can extend the life of expensive biomedical equipment. This also reduces the need for frequent replacement of equipment.

Dr. Kalpana Vyas, Executive Director (Logistics), RMSC, while giving the welcome address, informed about the objectives of the workshop. RUHS representative Mr. Jitendra Ahuja gave information on BEMP from the perspective of hospitals. Dr. Prem Singh, SNO of Inventory Management, gave a detailed presentation about the major challenges of Rajasthan Equipment Management Programme.

Professor Pankaj Bhardwaj of AIIMS Jodhpur discussed the role of BEMP in strengthening the health system. Rakesh Gautam, CEO, GKS Health Soul, trained manpower for implementation of the RFP and Nigam Gupta, Head, Medicity Health Care Services, gave a presentation on user training for the devices. D. Selva Kumar, MD, Trimmed Solutions, Dr. Yogesh Kumar, SNO, BEMP program, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Archana Robinson, Karnataka also gave presentations on maintenance of biomedical equipment.
