Encounter: Three Naxalites have been killed in an encounter between police and Naxalites in Bhamragarh forest of Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. Two women are also among the killed Naxalites. Police have recovered the bodies of one male and two female Naxalites. Gadchiroli is one of the Naxal affected areas of Maharashtra. Voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 has taken place here. After the firing stopped, security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle, a carbine gun and an INSAS rifle from the spot.
Superintendent of Police Neelotpal said that some members of Perimilly Dalam of Naxalites had camped in a forest near Katrangatta village of Bhamragarh taluk with the aim of carrying out subversive activities during the period of their ongoing Tactical Counter Offensive Operation (TCOC).
Naxalites killed in retaliation
He said that two squads of C-60 commandos, the special combat branch of Gadchiroli police, were immediately sent to the area for search operations. When these teams were conducting search operations, the Naxalites opened indiscriminate fire on them. To which C-60 commandos responded. He said that after the firing stopped, bodies of one male and two female Naxalites were recovered from the spot. One of them has been identified as Commander Vaas, in-charge of Perimilly Dalam.
