Rescue of tracker stuck in 300 feet deep valley from Mahuli Fort for 22 hours

Mumbai: A trekker trapped in a 300 feet deep valley near the famous Mahuli Fort in Shahpur taluka of Thane district was safely pulled out of the valley by a team of locals and mountaineers after 22 hours of hard work. In the incident, tracker Kapil Kasbe (26) was taken to hospital in an ambulance for further treatment with minor injuries including a leg fracture. Kasbe is a native of Nanded and had come to Mahuli Garh to study the sculptures and other historical things and has been staying here for the past few days for study purposes.

In this context, the scholar Kasbe of the forts was studying the sculptures and other historical things made on the fort in Mahuli Garh along with his friend. Yesterday on 8th May, Kasbe was visiting the fort alone. At this moment Kasab suddenly lost his footing and staggered through the bushes and fell into a 300 feet deep valley. However, since he had good experience in mountain climbing, he managed to escape by holding on to a large branch of a tree, while he found some support in a corner of the valley. He made his escape by holding on to whatever bushes he could get his hands on. Achieved success. Luckily, he had a mobile and had mobile network coverage, so he informed his friend and Shahpur police about the incident as well as the location of the place where he was stranded.

Sahapur police immediately informed the rescue team of local villagers and trackers who help the police in such accidents. In this incident, Kasbe's foot was fractured and other parts of the body including ribs were also injured. Various rescue teams were coordinated and preparations were started to pull Kasbe out of the valley, but the rescue operation was being hampered due to darkness. Therefore, it was decided that the rescue should be stopped for the time being and the rescue operation should be conducted again in the morning. The help of a famous mountaineer from Lonavala was also taken to save the city.

Carrying out rescue operations since early morning on Thursday, April 9, many trackers reached the city with the help of ropes and provided biscuits, ORS and energy-giving fluids. After this, the trekkers evacuated the town safely from the valley after 22 hours with the help of zip line and rappelling technology and back stretcher in four stages. Mahuli Garh is very popular among trekkers and is the highest point in Thane district.
