Chhatarpur, May 10 (HS). India was the world's guru for the knowledge of water. Because our ancestors believed that the flowing streams of water should be allowed to flow freely and they should run their lives by stopping every drop coming out of the clouds, but in the greed for profit, people made water a profitable business. This was said by water man Rajendra Singh as the chief guest in the two-day Save Small River National Workshop organized by Parmarth Social Service Institute on Friday.
He said that when a human being applies hard, even a stone can turn water. A community effort by all of us can change the face of the world. Told that we will remember the ponds and small rivers of our villages and towns, which were once a big source of clean water. But gradually these small rivers and ponds have disappeared from the revenue documents. It is the responsibility of the government to identify, demarcate water sources and mention them in the gazette. The Supreme Court had also passed an order in 2001 directing this to the government. We cannot make the big rivers uninterrupted and clean unless a big campaign is launched to conserve all the tributaries. The need for this campaign is even greater today because many small rivers, ponds, ponds and natural water sources are disappearing. He appealed to the community that for this the society will have to make joint efforts.
While giving information about the objectives of the workshop, Secretary of Parmarth and National Convenor of Jal-Jan Jodo Abhiyaan, Dr. Sanjay Singh said that we all will sit together and make the work of water conservation more effective and will share the experiences that emerged from this workshop. Will document and present it before the incoming new government.
Padma Shri awardee Laxman Singh said that to save small rivers, every drop of rain water will have to be saved and the youth will have to be prepared to take this work further, it is they who will take this work forward.
Umashankar Pandey, honored with Padma Shri, said that big rivers can be formed from small rivers, for this first of all we will have to adopt the method of having a ram on every field and a tree on every ram. He said that till then we will not be able to make the big rivers uninterrupted and clean.
Jal Saheli Pushpa said that we are taking the lessons of saving water given to us by the charitable social organization Sansthan to every village and motivating people to save water through songs. Our aim is to prepare one lakh Jal Saheli and spread this campaign in the entire Bundelkhand region.
Rakesh Katal, Head of WHH India said that today we felt very happy to participate in this save small rivers workshop. The campaign that you people have started to save small rivers in these difficult times is a very commendable step. We will take the knowledge gained from here to the entire country.
