Jangipur Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The third phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections is taking place on Tuesday. Voting is also being held on Malda North, Malda South, Jangipur and Murshidabad Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal.
Meanwhile, a dispute has come to light between BJP and TMC regarding a polling booth in Jangipur. Here a clash broke out between BJP candidate Dhananjay Ghosh and the booth president of Trinamool Congress i.e. TMC. The BJP candidate has accused the Trinamool booth president of threatening him.
The BJP candidate has accused Trinamool booth president Gautam Ghosh of influencing voters. He said, I had come here as a candidate and I saw the Trinamool block president coming within 100 meters of the booth and threatening me. Booth President Gautam Ghosh, I am also being threatened by the BJP candidate.
Gautam Ghosh said that when this kind of behavior can happen to a candidate, then what can happen to the common people. We will complain about this to the Election Commission. This case pertains to booth number 44 of Mirgram Primary School.
It is noteworthy that among the 93 seats for which elections are being held in the third phase, 4 are from Assam, 5 from Bihar, 7 from Chhattisgarh, 9 from Madhya Pradesh, 9 from Maharashtra, 11 from Maharashtra and one seat each from Dadar. -2 in Nagar Haveli and Daman-Diu, 2 in Goa, 14 in Karnataka, 4 in West Bengal, 25 in Gujarat and 10 in Uttar Pradesh. 1331 candidates are trying their luck on these 93 seats.
In this phase, 82 candidates of BJP and 68 candidates of Congress are in the fray. 79 candidates from BSP and 9 from SP are in the fray, while 4 from Sharad Pawar's NCP and 4 from Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena are in the fray. Apart from this, the fate of 3 candidates from NDA camp from Ajit Pawar's party and 2 from Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena party is to be sealed in EVMs.
