Rishabh Pant : Indian cricket team's star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has returned to the cricket field. Pant, who was seriously injured in a car accident in December 2022, has returned to the cricket field for the first time. Before the IPL, he took part in a practice match of his team Delhi Capitals.
Pant had earlier participated in an exhibition match
Rishabh Pant is eyeing a comeback in the next season of the IPL after taking part in a practice match organized by his franchise Delhi Capitals in Aloor, Karnataka. Pant is undergoing rehabilitation at NCA. He is working hard to regain fitness ahead of the IPL starting in the last week of March. Earlier, Pant had also participated in an exhibition match.
Matches organized to assess Pant's fitness
Referring to the 'intra-squad' match at Aloor near Bengaluru, an NCA source said, “This match was basically to assess the fitness of Rishabh Pant. He has been batting in the net sessions for some time now and playing in practice matches is the next step.”
Pant can be used as an 'impact player'
Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting had earlier said, “Pant is confident of returning in the next season of IPL. If Pant is not able to play the role of wicketkeeper, he can play as a batsman or can be used as an 'impact player' in the next IPL.
“If he plays even 10 out of 14 league matches, it will be a bonus for the team.”
Ponting said in an event, “Rishabh is confident that he will be fit to play the match. We are not completely sure yet what role he will play in the team. We can only hope he is available to play. He may not play all the matches but if he plays even 10 out of 14 league matches, it will be a bonus for the team.
