Farmers took this decision after a meeting with the Centre. The Center had proposed to give MSP on 5 crops i.e. cotton, maize, lentils, pigeon pea and urad. The farmers rejected this proposal. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that we discussed the Centre's proposal with the farmers. After this we came to the conclusion that this proposal is not in our interest. Our MSPs must meet the requirements of the Guarantee Act. There is no need of Rs 1.75 lakh crore to give MSP.
