This Sun Temple is located in Modhera in Patan district of Gujarat. This temple is built on the banks of Pushpavati river. This place was earlier known locally as 'Sitani Chauri' and 'Ramkund'. At present no worship takes place in this temple. This temple has been declared a monument of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India. It is said that this temple was built in 1026 by King Bhimdev I of Solanki dynasty.
