Thousands of devotees paid obeisance at Ghala Shitala Dham, made wishes


Mirzapur, 06 May (HS). On Monday, on Trayodashi date, queues of devotees started forming since early morning at the famous Maa Shitala Gharda Dham of Haliya development block. Thousands of devotees visited and worshiped Mother Shitala. After Mangal Aarti, male and female visitors stood in queues holding coconuts, chunri and prasad in their hands, eager to get a glimpse of the Mother Goddess.

After taking bath in Sewati river, devotees paid homage to Mother Shitala. The entire temple complex echoed with bells, conch shells and cheering. During the parikrama, devotees recited Sheetala Chalisa inscribed on the stone slab behind the temple. There was a huge crowd of new couples in the Dham. After the marriage, after reaching Mata's court, the newlyweds listened to the story of Satyanarayan after darshan and worship.

Mangaldhari Mishra, the priest of the temple, said that about 30 thousand devotees reached the mother's court and offered darshan and worship. Haliya police remained deployed for security arrangements. The visitors, after offering darshan and worship, bought wooden utensils and bamboo items as well as decorative items.
