India is ready for mediation to resolve Russia-Ukraine dispute but…', Jaishankar's big statement – News India Live

On the issue of resolving the Russia-Ukraine dispute, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has given a big statement. The External Affairs Minister has indicated that India is ready to mediate to resolve disputes between Russia and Ukraine, if needed. He also made it clear that India will not take any step on its own in this matter.

S Jaishankar talked about relations between India and Russia

In an interview with a German newspaper, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said that India's energy suppliers in the Middle East have given priority to Europe for the supply of petroleum products in February 2022 amid the Russia-Ukraine dispute. Europe paid more for these products. In such a situation, India had no option but to buy Russian crude oil.

Jaishankar said that India has expanded its economic relations with Russia. He said Russia has never violated India's interests and bilateral relations between the two countries are stable and friendly. He further said that on the other hand, political and military relations with China are nothing special.

India is committed to ending the Russia-Ukraine war

Jaishankar further said that India is committed to ending the Russia-Ukraine war. He said that everyone is troubled by this conflict. I don't know how to end this. Questioning military ties with Russia despite Russian military intervention in Ukraine, Jaishankar said, 'If we look at history, Russia has never harmed our interests.' Russia's relations with Europe, America, China or Japan have seen ups and downs.

Jaishankar justifies India's purchase of Russian crude oil

Jaishankar has also justified the purchase of Russian crude oil by India. He said it was a major supplier to India and other countries until Europe shifted a large part of its energy purchases to the Middle East when fighting in Ukraine began. What could we do about it? The Middle East gave priority to Europe. Europe paid them more. He further said that at that time either we would not have energy because everything would have gone to them. Or we will have to pay a lot because Europe is paying more.
